Xchange Summer School 2015 a Huge Success!

Xchange Summer School 2015 a Huge Success!

Magee University was the chosen location of the Xchange Summer School this year.  It gathered together an eclectic mix of speakers including Nigel Owens, Dr Marina Prentoulis, Anita Robinson, Linda Irvine, Prof June Andrews, Ann Travers, Jo Berry and Patrick Magee, to hold challenging and thought provoking conversations. This time the conversations were set round a kitchen table to encourage open and honest dialogue on the themes of Action, Bravery, Change and Diversity.

Participants were privy to very personal insights from all of the speakers as well as the opportunity to engage directly with speakers and panel members throughout the course of the two day programme.  The social event on Thursday evening gave delegates further opportunity to engage more informally and carry on conversations.

Billed as an event for thinkers and explainers, from a diverse range of backgrounds, it provided a platform for thought provoking conversations. There was also an opportunity to avail of one of three grants for £10k to fund a project fitting the themes of the conference and keep the conversations going.

Feedback from the Summer School included:

“Xchange was one of the best conferences I've been to in a long time. In particular, the input and debate from Linda, Ann, Jo and Pat were outstanding”.

“A wonderful two days. Very informative. Informal situations for chat were fantastic as often delegates were so Fantastic”

“Interesting and inspiring day, great to hear from a range of leaders”

“Nora was excellent. Jo Berry was inspirational Jo Berrry - what a wonder brave and open hearted human being!

"She was an inspiration as was Ann Travers and Patrick Magee. Fantastic Session, thank you . It must have been challenging for them all. Such courage on all parts. Very well facilitated.”

“There is a need to have more events of this type to bring the 3rd sector back to its core aims and objectives and to thinking creatively again rather than continuous focus on funding organisation and gaining contracts.”

“No words - very powerful (Friday) Great morning session (Friday) and very thought provoking”

We would like to thank all contributors, funders and delegates who made this such a success. We are already looking forward to next year and will share details on the Xchange Summer School 2016 in due course.
