Senior Fellowship Programme

Lloyds TSB Foundation NIA unique leadership programme to develop the chief officers in Northern Ireland’s third sector. The programme will build on participants’ existing leadership capability and further develop their knowledge, confidence and skills.

The programme is kindly supported by the Lloyds TSB Foundation NI.

The aim is to increase the social value they create in how they run their organisations and provide better services for beneficiaries.

This programme is new, and designed to be highly relevant to meet leaders’ need at this challenging time in the third sector. It also creates a network of alumni who will stay connected over a three year time frame.

Programme Benefits

The Programme will provide a blend of individual coaching and support, micro skills development, Master classes, peer consulting and experiential learning. It will showcase the participants’ “evidence from experience” of leading the third sector. Through the three programmes, 2012-2015, a Leadership Network will emerge to be a catalyst for the future of the sector.

Programme Dates

Connect: 13th September. Come along to the programme launch and briefing.

Call to Leadership: (23rd October 2013). Your chance to undertake a 360 degree Appraisal and a Myers Briggs Type Indicator, followed by a personal 1.5 hour coaching session with one of the tutors to interpret results of the appraisal and set a personal plan for your development throughout the programme.

Leading From the Inside Out: 23rd – 24th January 2014 (Residential). Developing leadership presence and authenticity, motivating self and others, increasing resilience and energy, power and influence.

Leading for Outcomes: 20th February 2014, leading the organisation for the future through innovation and growth.

Leading Forwards: 27th March 2014, leading the strategy, performance and culture needed by your organisation for success.

Leading for Excellence: 13th June 2014, sharing leadership experience and insights from the programme to show the sector the way.

The programme is designed and delivered by Irene Hewitt and Anne McMurray

Irene Hewitt

Irene Hewitt is currently a senior leadership consultant with the Kings Fund, as well as an independent consultant in leadership and organisational development. Irene has an extensive background in leadership development in Northern Ireland and authored CO3's ‘Excelling as Chief Officers - Framework for Leadership Excellence©'.

Anne McMurray

Anne McMurray is an independent organisational development consultant, specialising in leadership and team development, strategy formulation and change implementation. She has developed a successful practice with clients across the north and south of Ireland, GB, Europe and Canada and has worked with CO3 on many occasions.

How to apply

This programme is designed for chief officers. In order to ensure the best learning opportunity, we are offering places on this programme, by application. If you are interested in the programme, then complete the application form and return it to sarah@co3.bz.

Places on the programme are limited, in order to ensure an effective learning environment.


Typically a course of this design and duration would cost a minimum of £2,500. CO3 is pleased to be able to offer the entire programme, including the residential, materials, coaching, appraisal, assessment, CO3 Excelling as Chief Officers - Framework for Leadership Excellence©, access to the on-going CO3 Senior Fellowship Programme, as well as all meals for the cost of £1250*. We also are grateful for financial support from Lloyds TSB Foundation for Northern Ireland, which allows us to offer 4 bursaries for the programme, at the reduced fee of £700. CO3 will also consider invoicing for the programme over 2 financial years, if that assists applicants.
