CO3 Mentoring Programme

CO3 Mentoring Programme

CO3 is delivering a broad range of activities to help the NI voluntary and Community Sector become more skillful in working together. As part of this initiative, CO3 is running its 2012 Mentoring Programme to enable members to benefit from the experience and knowledge of their peers, either from within the third Sector or from the public and private sectors.

The programme was officially 're-launched' in November 2012, however as we have had such a great response from Mentors in both the public & private sector, we are still able to provide members with the opportunity to participate on the programme as a Mentee.

The CO3 mentoring programme will enable third, public and private sector Chief Executives to share best practice, thereby strengthening the economic and emotional prosperity of NI Civic Society.  Up to twelve leaders of voluntary / community organisations can avail of a place on the mentoring programme, which will match leaders with other leaders on a project or issue specific basis for a 12 month period. Mentoringis a highly successful development tool at senior executive level because it can be tailor-made to suit the individual and issues/experiences can be discussed in a safe and confidential environment.

We are looking for Mentees who are facing a "new to them" situation or a specific issue, and would like to work this through with the help from a Mentor.

We are also looking for Mentors with the following attributes:

  • a willingness to listen and to share their knowledge and experience
  • a keen interest in others and a willingness to share their successes and failures (i.e. they do not claim to be perfect!)
  • an open-minded point of view and enthusiasm to explore new ideas or ways to do things differently.

Mentors will have an opportunity to reflect on their own personal development and gain a feeling of satisfaction in making a difference.

Mentors will be asked to meet with their Mentee once a month over a period of up to one year.

If you decide to volunteer, CO3 will provide you with all the information and materials you need before matching.

We hope that you will consider taking part in this exciting project and look forward to hearing from you. If you would like further information please contact Tracey McCreanor on 028 9024 5356 or email tracey@co3.bz.

Here’s what some of last year’s participants said:

“This is the best thing CO3 has ever done – thank you so much for the opportunity”

“I have had a hugely positive experience and learnt so much from my mentor”

“My ‘conversations with purpose’ with my mentor have been invaluable – not just for my own development but also for the development of my organisation”
