CO3 Consultation Response Concordat between the Voluntary and Community Sector and the NI Government

CO3 welcomes the review of the Compact and the efforts of the Voluntary and Community Unit and the Joint Forum to produce this Concordat. Third Sector leaders are very mindful of the need for effective relations between government and the third sector. CO3 wants to strengthen relationships with leaders across sectors and has undertaken a number of activities to develop and build relationships, and joint partnerships. This has included:

• We facilitate meetings and key engagement between Third Sector leaders and senior officials across several government departments.
• We hold roundtable discussions between third sector leaders and Government Ministers, Permanent Secretaries and senior officials from key government departments.
• CO3 works with the Chief Executive’s Forum (the membership body for Chief Executives in the public sector) on joint events, training and projects, including events on Intelligent Funding and the Compact.
• We arrange and manage a number of mentoring relationships involving senior officials from government and the public sector, matched with third sector leaders.
• CO3 is a partner to the intersectoral Interchange programme, led by DFP.
