This week marks the launch of the Leadership and Good Governance Awards 2018. The Awards are organised by the VSB Foundation in partnership with CO3 and Volunteer Now.  They recognise voluntary organisations, which are working hard to improve their governance. This year there will be three different award categories, determined by organisational turnover. We would like to build on the success of last year’s awards and encourage organisations to apply for the awards before Friday 28 September.

Denise Hayward, Chief Executive, Volunteer Now explained “Volunteer Now is pleased to be supporting the Leadership and Good Governance Awards again this year.  This is a challenging time for governance in the sector, with many organisations under pressure.  These awards provide an opportunity to celebrate the great work going on in governance which underpins the delivery for so many beneficiaries.”

Charlie Mack, Chief Executive, Extern, winners of the 2017 award said, “Achieving the Governance award reflects Extern’s firm commitment to be a professional and trusted charity leader.  A top-quality Board ensures our life-changing services remain innovative and meet all our clients at the point of their need.”

Nora Smith, CEO, CO3 commented “The Governance and Leadership Awards have substantially grown in profile.  Now in their 3rd year this is the perfect platform to recognise and reward leadership and good governance at Board level.  We all know that charity governance makes a huge difference and by sharing examples of truly inspirational boards through these Awards it is fantastic recognition of their leadership, commitment and hard work.    By shining a spotlight on the best of the sector, we want to demonstrate how effective governance can transform a charity and even more of the lives of its beneficiaries.  I am delighted to announce that in tandem to the overall prize, every nomination to the Awards this year will receive complimentary membership to the CO3 Trustee Network for the year.”
