Creating Positive Cultures in the Workplace- Change is a part of life, some of us embrace it, others resist.

Please note that this event is for Full Members (i.e. Director/CEO level) members only.

Work consumes so much of our lives, the hours we do in the office and subsequently the hours we do in our heads.  Therefore, when you recognise that the workplace culture has deteriorated and in some instances turned toxic, what is your responsibility as a leader?  How can we change the workplace culture that creates a shared values, belief system and set of attitudes that ensure the full team is rowing positively in the one boat towards fulfilling the mission of the organisation?  For leaders who have inherited staff teams that resist change, it can sometimes feel nearly impossible.  However, the worst thing that we can do as leaders is ignore the signs and hope that through time the culture will change.  The odds are not in our favour! Therefore, what is our leadership role to set the tone to create and embrace a positive culture?  How do we ensure that we as leaders are looking after ourselves during times of change and resistance?  This session will operate under Chatham House Rule and provide an opportunity for CEOs to share and learn from one another.  These sessions will be conducted under Chatham House Rule

All four sessions will be facilitated by Maria Garvey.

The subsequent themes for future Share and Connect sessions will be considered during this session also. The dates for the remaining sessions are:

  • Thursday 27 June 2-4pm
  • Friday 27 Sept 2-4pm
  • Wednesday 18 December 2-4pm.

In a career spanning over 40 years, as a leader in education, health & social care, faith community and social enterprise, Maria has brought her experience and knowledge to a wide range of individuals, organizations and communities in the voluntary, statutory and faith sectors, both nationally and internationally.

Trained in Transformational Leadership, Organizational Development, Group Facilitation and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction she is particularly committed to recovering the human in human services.
