New to Post Trustee Forum

Wednesday, February 2, 2022 - 15:00 to 16:45

Charities exist to create a better society. They operate for many different purposes and in many ways.

Trusteeship is hugely rewarding, as well as providing opportunities for personal development. This workshop creates the space for new to post Trustees to come together to share experiences, to gain insights from others and ultimately gain a better understanding of their new role and responsibilities as a Trustee. It is a safe space that will offer practical support to help you develop in your new role.

This networking session will be Chaired by Roger Courtney, who has a wealth of experience and expertise in charity governance.

About the Speaker - Roger Courtney, Courtney Consulting

Roger Courtney trained as a youth and community worker and set up what became Crescent Arts Centre in Belfast. He then became the Chief Officer of the Simon Community NI.  Over the next sixteen years, Simon grew from two run-down rented houses and three members of staff, and a turnover of £40,000, to projects for people who were homeless all over Northern Ireland, with over two hundred staff, and a turnover of over £2million.

For the last fifteen years, he has been working in the Third Sector as a freelance organizational development consultant, specializing in strategy planning, governance, evaluation, fundraising strategy and quality.

Roger has written one of the leading UK textbooks on strategic management in the voluntary sector, 'Strategic Management for Third Sector Organisations' (2013) published by Palgrave Macmillan. He is also the author of The CO3 Toolkit for Managing Change and The CO3 Guide to being a Chief Officer,  as well as six other books on fundraising, voluntary sector management and homelessness.
