With lots more competition for scarce funding resources in today's economic environment, now is a good time for organisations to diversify their fundraising to include direct marketing from individuals into their fundraising mix.

Fundraising from individuals is a fundamental element of charity fundraising and can generate significant income for fundraising organisations, informing potential supporters about the cause, asking for donations and helping build a relationship with supporters.

 This one-day programme will provide an insight into:

  • Digital Direct Marketing
  • Integration with other fundraising techniques

 

It will be an opportunity for you to assess:

  • The most appropriate model for your organisation to achieve the best return on investment
  • How do you communicate our need for funding?
  • How do you build a long-term relationship after the first gift?


This will be an interactive session, with a number of case studies highlighted throughout.


At the end of this programme, you will have greater confidence and understanding of:

  • Your audience - identifying supporters to maximise response.
  • Their motivation for supporting your organisation
  • The most appropriate channel for you to communicate with your audience to maximise income
  • The story you need to tell to develop long-term relationships with your organisation

Karen Gallagher, Karen Gallagher Consulting

A Professional Fundraiser with 15 years’ experience in fundraising and fundraising management. Karen has delivered multi-media, integrated marketing and fundraising campaigns with exceptional results. She has consistently delivered above average returns on investment while ensuring organisational strategic objectives on brand awareness are met.

As a key member of the Individuals Giving team at Concern Worldwide, Karen delivered donor recruitment and engagement campaigns across the UK and Ireland, contributing to doubling the income and growing the regular giving file by over 6,000 supporters.  During her time as the Northern Ireland Director of Concern Worldwide, revenue grew by 30%.

More recently, as Interim Donor Marketing Manager at NI Hospice, Karen supported the development and implementation of a new strategy and approach to Individuals Giving, the first appeal in this new approach generating 3 times more income than previous appeals, with a return on investment of 1:12.

 

 

 

Mairead McGinn, Director of Fundraising and Communications, Depaul

Mairéad has worked in the not for profit sector since 2007 and joined Depaul as Director of Fundraising and Comminutions in March 2016.

Mairéad started her fundraising career in the theatre sector where she worked with the Dublin Theatre Festival and Abbey Theatre for a number of years. With the Abbey Theatre Mairéad worked on individual and corporate giving as well as Major donor campaigns in Ireland. She was also part of the team that set up of their fundraising efforts in the USA.

Prior to joining Depaul Mairéad worked at Irish Cancer Society where she worked specifically on Direct Marketing and Legacies.

As Depaul’s Director of Fundraising and Communications for ROI & NI  Mairéad has rolled out a robust direct marketing campaign across both jurisdictions which has seen fundraising income increase by 61% over 12 months. 

Mairéad has a Bachelor of Business Studies & Arts Management (Hons) from the Institute of Art, Design and Technology. Mairéad also has a Diploma in Fundraising Management from Charities Institute Ireland and a Certificate in Fundraising Best Practice.

A CO3 suite of one-day fundraising courses

CO3, in partnership with Roger Courtney and Karen Gallagher, have developed a suite of training programmes focused on building the income generation capacity of leaders within the Third Sector. The training is relevant to those who have responsibility for generating income within their organisation.

Participants can register for all nine modules at a cost of £995 or register for individual modules at a cost of  £130. Each module is a full day of training and will take place at CO3's offices (34 Shaftesbury Square, Belfast, BT2 7DB - map).

Places are limited to a maximum of 15 per course.
