Strategic Change Management for Third Sector Chairs in the time of Covid19
As part of your CO3 membership, you are invited to the next workshop of CO3’s Chairs Forum, where we will be discussing the challenges of strategic change management in third sector organisations. 
It is safe to say that effective organisational change management has been a fundamental success factor for organisations working in the context of a febrile funding environment, increased demand from service users over the last two decades. 
Like the community it serves, the sector has had to learn to flex quickly to the enormous challenges of Covid-19.  Those challenges include steep reductions in donor funding, the need to transfer some services online and the need to quickly introduce new technology and skillsets, all while keeping up with quickly-changing statutory guidelines on personal contact with service users.
Our discussion will be anchored around a presentation from Aidan Bennett, a stalwart of the third sector through his non-executive trusteeships and mentoring work who works as a Digital Transformation and Data Management Consultant.  Aidan will be sharing his experience of leading significant organisational change as a third sector chair






Some of the questions we hope to answer through this peer to peer exchange are:

  • What questions should chairs be asking of their executive teams about adapting their organisations to cope with the fall out of Covid-19?
  • How can chairs and trustees best support the management of changes designed and delivered at operational level?
  • Is there a case for chairs to review the skills profile of the boards they lead to account for the need to flex with Covid-19?  If so, what new skills do we need to bring in.

Patrick Minne


Patrick's working career has taken him from media-monitoring and financial IT project management in 1990s Edinburgh, through to website management and Customer Relationship roles back in Ireland in the 2000s, all the while doing interesting volunteering jobs on the side.
Patrick joined the Third Sector in Belfast in 2007 . Five years later, he was asked to head up Charity Bank in Northern Ireland; an organisation which then provided social investment training and still finances a range of charities. During this time Patrick became involved with CO3 with a "really rewarding", five-year stint as treasurer of the organisation. In 2017 he led the startup phase of the Air Ambulance NI charity before freelancing on a range of interesting small non-profit projects and  Extern, Ireland’s biggest social work charity. 

Patrick has recently returned to CO3, becoming the newly appointed Director Of Business Development in September 2019.
