What is your approach to developing strategies to secure major gifts?

This one day training programme will provide you with an overview of developing a planned approach to securing major gifts from a range of donors usually for a unique stage in an organisation’s development:  

  • Highlighting success stories where fundraising campaigns have led to the acquisition of major gifts
  • Developing a Case for Support and evaluating the optimal messaging, themes and calls to action to maximise the chances of attracting major gifts.
  • Developing a pyramid of gifts
  • Understanding how to identify groups within your existing supporter base that may represent good major gift prospects.
  • Potential big gift donor research and cultivation

 

At the end of this programme, you will have greater confidence and understanding in:

  • Designing and implementing a Big Gift strategy
  • Identifying the motivations of your potential supporters to secure major gift donations.
  • Donor research and cultivation.
  • Identifying the most appropriate channels for raising awareness and securing Big Gift donations.
  • Have a clear undertaking of what makes supporters feel valued in order to build a long-term relationships.

Roger Courtney, Director or Courtney Consulting

Courtney Consulting, with offices in Northern Ireland and England, provides a range of consultancy support to Third Sector clients, which enable them to be as effective as possible. Consultancy services include: strategic planning, governance training/reviews, fundraising strategies, leadership/management training, mentoring.  Having founded and managed the Crescent Arts Centre, Roger Courtney was Chief Executive of the Simon Community in Northern Ireland for 16 years.  For the past 16 years he has been working as a management consultant, trainer, mentor and lecturer in the Third Sector, mainly in Northern Ireland, specialising in organisational development, strategic and operational planning, funding and fundraising strategy and governance. He is the author of the leading UK text on Strategic Management in the Third Sector” (Palgrave MacMillan 2013), amongst a dozen other publications on voluntary sector management and fundraising.

Paul Artherton

Paul Artherton has a BA (Hons) from Queen’s University and a MA Degree from Pennsylvania State University.  He has worked in PR and fundraising for nearly 30 years. Previously assistant director for fundraising and public relations at the Simon Community Northern Ireland for seven years, for the last 21 years he has run his own consultancy business specialising in fundraising, sponsorship, public relations and recruitment.  His clients have included charities, private sector companies and public bodies throughout Ireland.  In 2010 Paul was appointed by the Judicial Appointments Commission as a Member of the NI Charity Tribunal.  He also writes for the Ireland section of www.fundraising.co.uk

A CO3 suite of one-day fundraising courses

CO3, in partnership with Roger Courtney and Karen Gallagher, have developed a suite of training programmes focused on building the income generation capacity of leaders within the Third Sector. The training is relevant to those who have responsibility for generating income within their organisation.

Participants can register for all nine modules at a cost of £995 or register for individual modules at a cost of  £130. Each module is a full day of training and will take place at CO3's offices (34 Shaftesbury Square, Belfast, BT2 7DB - map).

Places are limited to a maximum of 15 per course.
