We are a membership organisation run by members and this is YOUR day.

Workshops

1. Mediation – why do it? With Dorcas Crawford, Edwards & Co

Why not! Disputes are a major distraction from work, a drain on staff energy and time, they cost more than they are worth and result in litigation which repeats the cycle and costs even more. Mediation is a process conducted confidentially where parties are assisted to reach a negotiated agreement. It is faster, cheaper, safer and preserves relationships. Dorcas Crawford will explain these and more reasons to choose mediation in a 15 minute presentation.

2. Stress Management & Relaxation Session with Ricky Sloan, Carecall

Managing your personal stress levels and the stress of your staff is of vital importance in the modern workplace.  There is a strong association between poor corporate stress management and instances of mental and physical ill-health.  The Health & Safety Executive have linked one third of all new instances of ill-health to work related stress – (HSE, Mar 2012).  This is particularly disturbing when the introduction of some simple stress management actions can make a significant difference to the health & wellbeing of your workforce.

This short 15 minute session will cover the following learning objectives:

  • What is stress?
  • Knowledge of how your mind works & how you can positively manipulate it to bring about positive stress relieving benefits.
  • Finishing with a 8 minute (hypnotherapy) relaxation session and a ‘Tips for Managing Stress’ hand-out.

This session will be delivered by Ricky Sloane.  Ricky currently works for Carecall and he has delivered corporate training to an extensive range of public, private and voluntary organisations over the past decade.  He has facilitated a range of programmes from postgraduate university modules to community based projects and has gained a depth of reflected experience working in specialised fields such as NLP, Stress Management, Calming & Defusing Difficult Situations, and Mental Health Awareness.

3.  Jazzing up your PowerPoint with Noel Lynch, Fluent Technology

Jazzing up your PowerPoint – we’ll share some tips with you on how to make presentations using Microsoft PowerPoint more interesting for your audience and therefore more effective for you. Gone are the days of projecting the words you are saying on to the screen, but you still need to be careful that the creative image that seemed so effective the night before is still relevant and appropriate to your audience in the cold light of day. With 15 minutes to spare, we’ll look at some of the Do’s and Don’ts and will keep it simple, so no need to bring your IT manager along with you…

Fluent Technology is a local software company specialising in solutions for organisations within the 3rd Sector.  We work with local organisations such as Volunteer Now, Extern, NIGALA, Northern Ireland Tourist Board and others, providing software to help you manage your case workload. Flexi-Case provides you with a secure ISO27001 database to store your service-user details, it gives you information at your fingertips on your caseload history and allows you to make informed decisions on how you're delivering on your CORE objectives.  If you are in the business of funding, we can help you give more. Flexi-Grant is for organisations providing grant funding; all you need to run the software is access to the internet. With online applications (where your applicants can complete your application forms and submit them with the click of a mouse), assessment, award and payments, it really is grant management made easy.
