CO3 seminar to consider the role of the third sector in a reformed health and social care system

 The new shape and structure of the health and social care service in Northern Ireland was considered by CO3 members at a seminar on Monday 17th October 2011.  This strategic event chaired by Mark Simson, BBC,  heard from the Economist Esmond Birnie, and Director of Cabinet operations in the Scottish government, Angiolina Foster.    Anne O’Reilly, chairperson of CO3’s Health and Social Care Group provided an overview, drawing from the sector’s experience and role in health and social care and a number of high level documents including the Kings Fund work The Voluntary and Community Sector in Health Implications of the Proposed NHS Reform.    Jim Well, Vice Chair of the Committee for Health, Social care and Public Safety also spoke about some of the realities of the decisions facing Minister Poots.   CO3’s health and social care group will now meet with the Compton Review team to present a report.   Check back for more information and for the report.
